The Defender has a 12V pump and 60L tank which is handy for rinsing off after swimming in the salt water. However, I was researching options for the wife's hatchback to rinse salt water off the paddle board, the vehicle and us. I know you can get cheap 12V shower/pumps, but here are 3 interesting designs that don't require power.

I really like the RinseKit as it simply uses the pressure of the water when filling it to pump it back out. It also has a field filling kit (Field Fill Kit – RinseKit) so you can refill it on the run (and if you're lazy, probably use a 12V compressor instead of the hand pump!).
I remember seeing a prototype of a unit that whilst you stand on it, and your constant body weight provides the pressure, but I can't seem to find it. I guess it mustn't have got past the prototype stage.

They make 12v jet washers as well, self contained - not as strong as a full sized one though. They were designed for mountain bikes, so you don't want it too strong anyways. Might be worth a look if you are thinking about it.

I think there might be a few settings you can alter. I have been meaning to get one for my bike for ages but haven't yet.

12v bilge pump, 1/2 inch hose and a rose nozzle combo cig/merit socket
Cost me $25, works in any bucket or wide mouth jerry can
also pumps water from boats, up from rivers, out of dams
As a bonus because the pump is non positive displacement when you want to fill it (if you build it into something just unclick the nozzle from the hose connection, attach it to the tap and turn it on.

I recently bought a cordless pressure washer from Bunnings for around the $160 mark and it can draw water from a tap, a bucket, whatever. It is not a name brand, but cannot recall much more detail. I will take a piccy later when I go over to my shed.

I have 2 of these. One is used for pumping diesel from drums and the other for water/showering. You can either put them inline or just drop the pump into the water. Ordinary garden hose fits onto them and you add a shower rose on the discharge end

I thought it was good value too but I have not had a chance to even take it out of the box and have a play yet.
