When I go hunting or camping I take my cast Dutch oven, this is mainly used to make fresh bread and stews, I will either take my little 2 burner primus gas cooker or my hotplate with grill and stand it over coals or fire, when they are well seasoned steak and snags are just yummo, then theres the tripod over a fire with a billy simmering away, Fav recipes, gotta be warm bush bread with golden syrup or jam, a stew pre prepared at home and just left to simmer for a few hours, nice medium rare steak with HP sauce a few snags, some crispy bacon, eggs and a few coldies, determine few coldies as u will, I am quiet partial to braised steak and onions in the mornings on toast, dont forget the old brewed tea, leave the poxy tea bags at home they are for girls

I pilfered my folk's camp oven when I moved out. No idea what brand it is, how old it is, or what's been previously cooked in it. But during winter at my place it gets a workout. I just light the slow-combustion fire, sit on top and let things like hotpot and casserole simmer for 6 hours until dinner. I use a second oven (yes I have one large and one small) to bake fresh damper. Then I just curl up and enjoy the tastes that have soaked into each other, meat, vegies, stock and herbs. There is just nothing like home-made stew and damper.
