Moisture content should help with how easy it is to bend fold the canvass. I’d try a spray bottle of water. Canvass doesn’t become water proof until the fibres swell with moisture. Most evident around stitching
just use it :P

But but but, his Camp. colleagues might think he'd ****ed in his fart sack over night.
Come to think of it, it would give new meaning to the morning rousing call when it is time to get up, Army Style. "Hands off cocks, on socks". or "Drop your cocks & grab your socks"![]()
What he said. Canvas needs to be wet and let dry. Currently doing that with the new canvas on our camper. You might zip it up, hang it on the clothesline, and wet it several times, letting it dry in the sun.
I learnt a lot from reading this article by Trayon on seasoning canvas.

Ian, is it a double deck swag?![]()

It Also depends on what weight canvas your farter sack is made from.
I had a swag made from that rip stop vinyl fabric that liferafts are made from for years and it was quite plient and easy to sleep in.
I absentmindedly put it away damp once and it turned into a mildew rollup.
So over to the "new" Anaconda store and the latest Dune 4WD Outback hooped zip up supercomfortable swag at that time. 20yrs ago?
I have since replaced that with the latest Dune 4WD tent swag , some of you would have one.....but it's cold, so I have done a couple of minor mods to it. They take up some space though compared to the conventional old swag like Ian's .
Thanks Mick, a most interesting read. Now I am all enthused it looks like my S2A Canvas Tilt is going to get a hiding & a wash. Has never been treated to a man made shower. It should be genuine Military Specced Canvas as it was Brand new & out of the box with the MiL P/n on it, & the Canvas & that did smell lurvely.
Weather here is being a tad unpredictable so getting the right days could be a problem but I'll give it a go & trust to luck. Maybe a nice drive up to Queensland for a few days might help.
Then again, I may wait until I get some decent sunshine & get a good choice of Movie as they suggest. A cuppa is never a problem in this house & maybe something long like "Gone with the wind".

yes its only going to hang around 24-28 for the next month with the odd shower.
