Back Straps
Tonight is the Back Strap which I think are the scotch fillet of the. 6 to 10 min at most cook time and 20 minute resting makes this a quick and easy one.
I am using a dribble of soy, lime, chilli, garlic, thyme and rosemary
A good ish guide
Easy Venison Backstrap – Cast Iron Recipes
This is a part of deer I do like to cook while camping. Walk/hike hunting up in our cool high country may not need a lot of food carried IF you can grab a back strap and fillet. I am a "take every thing" person normally if within a hour of a track/parked Disco perhaps.
A long walk from west to east with no roads, tracks or paths is on track for later this year may mean just bits come with me. My nutty Plan is Mount Buller to Dargo or crooked river at least. Road wise is not quick at 5:30 hours via roads according to google
350km drive or 80km hike? 80km as a matter of interest is a bit more than the Famous Kokoda track which is 60km I think.
Hike will be a lot of up and down of course. Right clothes, boots, Bivi and sleeping bag, PLB perhaps
Dogs not allows unfortunately.
