I have a 40l engel. Which i bought before our trip around Aus and turned the fridge on in the back of the 90 and turned it off 7 months later when back home. I love it and it is now used by the pool full of beer (as t works 240v as well as 12v)

I alos have picked up a two zone cheap on the eval bay which i have not used yet but just got it as it was cheap and in case i need it But great that with two zone you have the option to do that

WAECO 40l, never had any dramas (coming up to 2y/o).

The eutectic "Autofridge" is not like your standard fridge (engel/weaco etc) and one that should be looked at when low power consumption is a factor. 4x4 magazine ran a test about 3years ago with about 8 fridges in a temperture controlled room. They were set to maintain 6deg and the room temp cycled to simulate diurnal temp variations representing a range of environments for a period of one week. The Autofridge average power consumption was one of the best and it's ability to maintain a steady 6deg's was far superior than any other fridge.

I agree with both Fraser and taz with regards to Low power consumption of the Autofridge and it's outstanding performance , but they are pricey.

my preference is waeco iv'e got 2 of them 50litre and a 32litre no problems one fridge and one freezer as far as power goes its all very similar but comparing prices waeco beats the known brands ,two weeks ago I saw a brand new 50litre waeco selling at bcf a penrith for $860.00

How I made the decision is what I was getting in terms of value for money. I almost bought a 35L Engle which at the time was $940 (with a 20% discount Anaconda were offering at the time), but I seen the Waeco 40L for $790 so really for over $200 less and 5L more it was a no-brainer.

I will say the EWaeco is finikie with it's voltage. I had issues with a slight drop in voltage even on it's lowest voltage cut-out it would switch off. I ended up fitting bigger amperage wiring, problem solved

Also, my parents have a Waeco 45L old style 'Coolmatic' and it's 6 YO and never given any grief. I only go camping 5-6 times a year on avg so the plastic casing on the Waeco doesn't really phase me.
