Tent that attaches to back of 4WD

Hi all, I've seen these around before but can't seem to find one in Aus. I know they're a little bit naff but it will really come in useful getting my girlfriend to leave the luxuries of the house if i can sell her on the dream of a double bed in the back of the Rangey rather than sleeping in the tent. It's a all the same i know but that's the way they are

    Autoblog

When i'm with the boys a swag will do fine, in the meantime, has anyone used one of these or can recommend where i can get one??

    Thanks,

    D

If you are vehicle based I wouldnt go that way.
There are BIG dome tents available.Set up real easy, take up little room, just get a DECENT inflateable materss and pump up machine.
At least you can stay longer than a night without packing up camp!!!

I've seen various ads in UK Landrover mags for the 'Autotent", which at 99pd was not bad - much like the one shown in the Autoblog link. However, getting 20kg of tent to Australia is a problem.

And, I googled 'wagon tourer', and the overland web site review on it reckons it costs $1100. Nice tent, but just a little over my budget.

Maybe i should just get a normal tent and have a short cylindrical section with an elastic skirt sewn up and added to it. At least that way i can have a normal tent for normal camping and can add the extension when Princess wants it.

I'm thinking about how it will attach to the tent, probably a velcro strip around the opening of the side entry i guess. I'll let you know how it goes.

    Thanks for the advice all.
