Thread: Camper trailer recommendations

The only reports I have heard about Jayco offroad campers range from mediocre to bad. Have not heard a lot of positive comments from owners.
My inlaws have had 2 off road Coromal Pioneers and have had no problems with them. They have tackled a fair bit of light to medium off roading with both of them. The original one was a Pioneer (sunwagon type) and their current one is a small pop top type with the door at the back. The wind out type got a little much for them.
Have heard good reports about Goldstream and I think it was Golf, but they are starting to get up there in the price category.

We bought a jayco finch offroad in 2005 and have nothing but praise for it we
use it mainly on road and being from wa it goes on dirt roads quite abit dont allway listen to the so called exsperts (ex is the unknown factor and a spert is a drip under pressure)on these type forums.Go and hire one or next time your in a caravan park or road house seek out owners we did have a dust problem(minor)rectified that with a tube of cikaflec sorry (about the spelling)and had a canvas flap made for the door and like anything operate within your buget as we did, they are good value for money and with a bit of thought can be cheaply improved there certianly better things on the market but most of our freinds with flip over campers wives love our kitchen and kids like the beds flip overs are really a big tent and can be quite exspence in them selves we have done about 25000 kms with ours with no probs look after it and it will look after you and dont use it beyond its capablity.

Jayco is like the Toyota of Camper/Caravans

- Everything will rattle apart of break on even the mildest sustained unsealed road driving.

- They leak like a sieve... Dust gets in everywhere... Your clean clothes wont stay that way and the interior will be full of dust if you do outback driving.

- They're customer service is BS, when (not if) it has issues dealing with them can be difficult.

- Spare parts, for when (not if) something breaks (vents etc being common) are as dear as poison...

So the product required a re-work to fix a design fault at your expense?
I've seen these units 1st hand and 2nd hand... Most leak dust badly, most owners end up taping the vents closed with cardboard etc... to try and reduce it....
Most owners have refitted doors and glued panels back into place.....

You need thicker skin!

If your happy with the product all good and well, but there are better products out there in the same category.

So what makes you an expert then? Are you a Jayconologist?
It is pretty poor form to be on this forum for very little time and then criticise peoples opinions, that were sought. And that is all they are and are intended to be, personal opinions.
Not trying to offend you, but your opinion is no more expert or opinion than anyone elses and that is all we are giving is our opinion.
You are happy with yours, great, but I know a lot that are not and have used one in fairly poor nic for only being a couple of years old.
I have also done a great deal of research on what is available in this price bracket and IMHO the Coromal wins hands down. It is by no means perfect, but appears in my mind to be better quality. I for one do not think you should have to make improvements on a new camper just to make it acceptable for what it was intended to start with.

Also who are you refering to as having offended you?
Me or someone else, please quote the offending post if you are going to make statements like that.
There was nothing aimed at you personally in any post in this thread, so I do not understand where you are coming from. It is just our opinion on a product.

Hmmm, sorry if I did the old offending bit, but I DID hire one, I DID use it, I WAS unimpressed and I'm GLAD I found out BEFORE I mistakenly actually bought one

(We always treat others property with respect, and even being careful we found these annoying and unnecessary faults...)

Right on!

As I said before, after seeing both Coromals and Jaycos IRL, I would much rather spend a few extra thousand and go for a Coromal any day.
