Too true, the dry ice trucks were phased out of use because of risks to the drivers. They would climb into the trucks to get something and asphyxiate, only to be found later dead and frozen with their feet poking through the door.

BUT your tomatoes will become "spritzer" tomatoes.In fact any fruit and unsealed meat etc will have a distinct CO2 taste.
It is also a very fine line between cold and frozen. Probably OK for beer but swmbos will not be impressed.
I used it 32 years ago to be precise, and decided a fridge was a much better idea.
For an extended stay those cheapo gas /electrics would be worth a try.

That is a very good point that I was remiss in identifying. In a moving car, with an aircon on, it is not generally going to be an issue.
I have heard of a person sleeping in the back of is ute having difficulties because of the dry ice esky in close proximity.. CO2 is a silent killer for sure
