my'n and LRH's are the same

except i got sides for my'n

i really like our awning...although I like the idea of a self supporting one like dereks I like the fact we can lower our polls or angle them if need be to block out more sun, which we have done on occcassions....

I also like the fact that ours gets packed away and protected by a tough bag
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

What would an awning like yours cost if you don't mind me asking.

I don't know which brands are pictured above but I have a Fiamma Caravanstore.

    See Awning-caravanstore

I've only used it whilst at Cooma at Easter. It was brand new but has broken a hinge pin (yes, I know faulty goods!). I have yet to get it fixed. It seems OK, though. It requires a rope track so I have to make something to suit the Rangie roof rack. If I still had the County, I'd pop rivet the rope track directly to the roof.

If you want to borrow it for a trial, Martyn, you are welcome.

Lou's awning is very good. I'd put it well above the run of the mill ARB one of a similar design. There are some definite advantages for what Lou says about being able to angle the awning for the sun. That said these were the reasons I went for the Hannibal:
*Very quick to set up and take down - less than 30 seconds each way
    * No poles and ropes to worry about.
    * No ropes means no pegs so it is just as easy at a roadside stop or on the beach as it is in anywhere else. You don't have to worry about tying it down.

The Hannibal awning does have a cover over the main canvas which acts as a flap at the rear of the awning so sun doesn't come in off the roof. What it lacks is a cover at either end. The other thing is the bars tend to rattle but this was fixed by a few rubber stick on spots.

My advice would be get what you can afford, but get a full length one that runs the entire roof length.

The Hannibal self supporting one is good... Gobrood has one of those too i was having a good look at last weekend.

Also the Rhino Foxwing is an interesting awning but haven't seen in the flesh as yet.

Here's mine. It looks to be the same as Dullbirds and LRH.

It is made by Polaris in Brisbane. What I liked about it is value for money (less than $400) and the fact that they custom made it for me right down to drilling the mounting holes exactly to my specifications. I also had zips added so that I could have walls made for it later.

This pic is taken on the awning's maiden voyage to Fraser Is. It was very stable in some very strong winds.

What I like about ours is the size and price, ours is 5.0 X 2.5 and it is good quality, most of the others are half the size or double the price with crappy alloy locking poles in the same size as ours.

It's made by Bob Burrage in Wollongong.
