On our three month trip we saw a number of people with these. Only one that I know of was broken down - which doesn't really say anything about them. Only the guy I talked to with the broken one had any complaints as he'd only had it a few weeks.

They look like a good insulated plastic esky but they are frighteningly big in external size and take up a lot of room. Though in reality its about the same as a 60L Engel.

Make up a cardboard box the same dimensions and it will give you an idea of how big it is.

My preference is Engel as I've had such a good run from mine. I also like the fact that it will run 12/24VDC or 240VAC from the fridge.

I've got the unit you're looking at.
I've only had it for about 8 months so it hasn't seen alot of heavy duty use yet but so far so good.
Yes it's a reasonably large unit externally... has to go 'east-west' behind the cargo barrier in the back of the Disco 1 but that's fine for my needs,
Then again, it's capacity internally - and ability to be used as a combined fridge/freezer, etc - make it a very functional unit. It's certainly takes the knocks well, with no fear of denting the casing.
Hope this helps... someone who has had one a bit longer may be able to speak first hand about longevity, but it has the usual german compressor so I'm thinking it should be fine in any case.
