I have slept in the back of my D1 many times i am 6ft and if sleeping on an angle its not too bad... or if you have a few to drink you will sleep anyways... if its a nice night i sometimes just sleep under it.

There is no way I'd sleep under mine!

We set up camp in the dark after a long day,on the north bank of the Jardine river & then realised it was infested with crocs.

SWmbo slept in the passenger seat wound back as far as it could go.The rear seats were out for the trip,i put a self inflating mattress across where the rear seat was, left to right across the vehicle.(Its a 5 seat model.)
It was a long night, but we both agreed we slept better in the car than we would have in the tent.

It's also a beautiful spot,if only we had a rooftop tent....

    D2 internal hammock

I gave the internal hammock rig a go but didn't tie it to the grab handle.
Tied off at rear to the spare tyre, over the door and shut.Through F L window to the roof rail. Oddly I found more room by having the middle seats up (mines a 7 seater) and the front wound back down.

Yes in the back of my D2 and it was horrible. Slept with the back door open, and got murdered by mozzies, lucky it was only one night and at a party not camping. Will have a swag anyday of the week.

Since I am still young and flexible, I have twice slept across the back seat of my D1. I actually found it surprisingly comfortable. Haven't tried diagonal with the back seats forward due to cargo barrier, but I can see that it could be a fair option if required.
