    Rice

For those who enjoy rice but just cant be bothered with the pain cooking it whilst camping check out the rice section in your supermarket.Sunwhite have released a pre-cooked rice in a vacum back that needs no refrigeration until opened.Come in Basmati,Jasmin and Brown. We tried them on the weekend and were very impressed.

Might be a good idea for some, but come on. How hard is it to cook rice.

I find the easiest thing to do is boil some water, place your rice in a pot with a lid, cover with the boiled water, replace lid, then cook your wet dish. The rice is done by the time you finish this.

Really handy to do when hiking on a single burner.

Rice is a little under cooked and of the ones I have tried - some of them had damaged packaging and the rice inside was off - green mould type off.

or make at home and put in ziplock bags then drop into hot water to heat while out

But as CC said... easy to make rice while out... can always run your rice cooker through an inverter

Many years ago a shearers cook showed me his method of cooking rice. Very easy and successful. Wash thoroughly then cover with cold water to the depth of one finger joint, bring to the boil and turn down to a dead slow simmer. Done when the water has almost gone. He said it works for any quantity from a handful for a single meal to a whole 40lb bag in a wash copper to feed a large shed.

That's the absorption method, favoured by many.

Yep, that's the method I use. It works well. My wife taught me - that and a curry are the only things I can cook. I find it's easier to take the eggs and bacon out of the fridge and to throw them straight into the bin. It saves washing up - it where they end up after I've tried to cook them.

    AAHHH, same

rice some meet and some thai or asian thing from a can or packet. even noodles. quick easy minimal washing up, and not to bad with the flys.

In all honesty, do any of us want SWMBO slaving over a hot cooker all day when we are camping? NO, this leaves her much more time for her to, clean the tent, wash the kids clothes and fetch beer etc LOL
