Simpson Desert Camp
The OzTrail tent was perfect for packing in the D2 along with all the other gear for this trip, Alice Springs - Old Andado Station - Mt. Dare - Dalhousie - Simpson Desert - Birdsville - Maree - Oodnadatta - Finke - Alice Springs.
It packed flat and fitted easily in the back of the Disco next to the Engel.
As for the where there's a will theres a way setup.......................no show and tell on that one.

Man this is a hard decision!!!
I'll change my mind a few more times on this yet....deciding on buying the D3 seemed easier :D
A family tent and awning from freedom or southern cross that will sleep 5 won't leave any change from $2k. From what I've read that sort of money pretty much buys a guarantee of a dry, secure and reliable tent (if all the owner comments are accurate). The $300-$600 chinese equivalent gets mixed responses from brilliant to woefull.
If a $2k tent gets little use and gets put up for sale in 5 years time, is it an attractive buy in the 2nd hand market?
The BW Turbo's hold their price 2nd hand. I tried to get one (being a cheapskate:cool:) but couldn't.
All sorted now:D
Black Wolf turbo twin 300 lite. Got a deal I was happy with at the Vic 4x4 show which brought it down into budget range.
After looking at a few of the tourer tents and calculating left over room after 5 sleeping inside it, it was going to be a squeeze and worse so as the kids get bigger. The BW twin has the advantage of 3 seperate rooms so thinking down the track when the kids want/need their own space that might be a good thing. Still looks pretty quick to put up. Worst feature of course is trying to fit it in the bag when packing up:eek:
Have look at these two video clips: Black Wolf Adventure Gear - turbo
Might help in getting it right. I had the same questions with myTurbo 210 and found the videos very useful.
Thanks for the links. That will help. I did manage to pull the tent down myself at the show (with help from the kids) and did manage to get it in the bag so all is good. Will do better next time. It is a big bag packed up and only fits diagonally in the back of the D3. Will be a packing challenge around that or....time for a roof rack.:D
