Thanks for the suggestions guys the speedo sits at 95 at 100kph. I believe its the tacho as the engine note does not seem to match the rpm shown, according to the service books the the alternator in newish.
The fuel consumption also spells that it is out as it averaged 15l per 100km at 120kmh(GPS) on the hume with the tacho showing 3400RPM. Also if you boot it hard it will wind the tacho off the gauge ha ha ha ha!
I may be changing it to springs and selling the EAS, if anyone out there is after a very good EAS system let me know I may want to sell it.

as the tacho runs off the alternator ... Have a look at the Alt pulley size ... if it is smaller than the original then that would explain the high RPM's

I just worry it may be a little fragile for constant off road use, although this is a good example (All EAS components replaced over the last 70,000Kms) I plan to use this car for offroad use as company car fills the everyday role.
To be honest i feel a little bad knowing that its gonna get a hard time in the rough stuff

2,300 RPM is correct with standard 29 inch Tyres.
A common problem with the tacho as already mentioned is people replace the French crap alternator with a Bosch and the standard bosch has a smaller pulley, hence the Tacho overeads.

The people who have incorrectly commented that the rpm should be around 2,000 RPM have another common Tacho fault. Almost no-one knows about.

There is a module hanging off the back of the tacho, the edge connector pins need to be retensioned. The symptoms are the tacho undereads by 300 rpm at the 2,500 level. Most people don't even know the Tacho is undereading.
