			4jb1t or 3-13bt diesel into 84 2 door

					Hello All
I'm looking for advice and suggestions regarding fitting either of these 2 diesel engines into my new pride and toy . The main aim is to use the RR on a daily basis , i don,t plan on any serious off roading or long distance touring . The V8 at the moment is not running right , but the 5speed manual seem's good . RR's and forums are all new to me , so i hope i'm in the right place with this ,
as i look forward to joining in an age old debate
Many Thanks Warrenj

If it has an LT77 it will be of no use behind the Isuzu.
The most successful conversions have been based on the early four speed found in a series 3 stage 1 or early 110 and have had the tapered roller bearing set up fitted.
If I were to do one I'd find a rusted out of pranged stage or 110 as a starting point.

					Thanks Rangier Rover
Your right about the LT77 and your right about me wanting to keep a manual box . I'm in the very early stages with this so i'll be off now to do some extensive searching . Back later with more specific questions .

Yeah, common wisdom seems to be the LT95 4-speed box. I do hear that the R380 will do the job if you need 5 speeds.

					Thanks Jakeslouw
I'm looking into the LT95 at the moment to see if it uses the same mounts as the LT77 . Is the LT77 the wrong choice with the 2.8 isuzu because its a weak gearbox and dos'ent like diesel pulses and vibes or is it because the gearing is all wrong ? If it's the gearing would it be any better behind the 3.4 toyota engine . I can't find that many people around these traps that like the smaller engines , will keep looking though .
Thanks Warrej

I've heard the LT77 is too weak. Those big diesels with all that torque and those ignition pulses will destroy an LT77.

I'll make the decision for you
Don't stuff around and just put a 4BD1T and LT 95 in it then its done. All standard early Rangie,Stage 1 and some 110 parts will interchange this way. As we all know the 4BD1 is a far more robust engine

Okay , got it ------got it , Mr Yarn Master . A definitive answer , i appreciate your input and [ patience
] as there is so much info out there , will look into compliance for rego issues here in WA . As i understand it with engine swaps if you use the same size capacity or smaller it can be pretty straight forward , go larger and its more involved .
On ya Warrej

			4jb1t 110

Just put a 4jb1t out of 2002 rodeo into 85 110 with lt 95 runs and pulls great just needs a bit more top end, gearing is good but i run a overdrive to help with high speed. Will cruze at 120ks but a bit lacking up hills I hope to remedy this by increasing boost and fitting a intercooler. this is a heavy beast so might suit your conversion better. easy conversion with kit from england.

					Cheers Neesch
Nice to find somebody who,s happy with this conversion , i keep coming back to the 2.8 as i think it would work well . I'd be very interested with how the extra boost and intercooler work out , from what I've read it might pay you to go with a larger diameter exhaust . Let us know how it works out . Go the 2.8 .
Many Thanks Warrenj
