Range Rover Trailer

Ha! great idea! a nose cone /storage on the draw bar would help fix the C of G issues.

I have thought (= fantasised) about something similar except using the existing EAS on a later model and hitch it to my P38 so that trailer would respond to changes in sync with the tow vehicle;)...

other random thought FWIW

there's kit available to electrically activate the existing hydraulic brakes ...use a small master cylinder and pump and accumulator -all fixed to trailer. Electric brake controller activates the accumulator which pressurises the master cylinder . Pump can be powered from deep cell battery in trailer which is charged from tow vehicle. Can you salvage existing power brake parts for this?


As for fuel supply, maybe could use switch over valve and activate fuel pump in trailer to feed tow vehicle through high pressure flexible coupling. Existing gauge and sender should work as well. Could also use existing carbon canister for fuel evap.

I plan on doing a simply check plate alloy on the front, with a right angle at the bottom with stand off's to support the forward floor section.

In front I will mount a lock up tool box with 2 large battery's and 60 AMP charger,external sockets ETC. The spare wheel will also be mounted in front of that. With those things in mind I think the C of G should be fine.

Thanks for the comments BTW. It will be a few more weeks before any more visual progress.

I'm a firm believer in the KISS principle so a simple hydraulic braking system is the way to go. The brakes on the tow vehicle are just simple boosted hydraulic brakes and they work fine.

I need new brake discs, wheel bearings, bushes ETC for the rear end. The Diff will be removed and a cover plate in its place. Axles will be ground off at the flange.
Seals removed and the bearing will run in oil.

The first photo is the Dodgy Temporary coupling. I have a very steep driveway. So I needed some way to get to down there.

The next photos shows the finished interior. I'm not goinf to put any covers over the door interior. I want to store some bits in the doors, and keep the weight down.

And the last shot show the mechanical completion. Ground off the axles at the Flange. Fitted new hub seals,Brake Rotors,Brake Pads,Wheel Bearings,
Second hand Koni Shocks with new Poly Bushes. I have removed the Outer seal, so the Bearings will run in Gear Oil.
Not too many Trailers around with Kings Coils Springs, Koni Shocks, and Bearings running in Oil.

Trailer lighting has been completed and tested. I have hooked up the wiring to the Fuel Pump. As for the Spare Wheel. I will wait and see how the C of G pan's out. I might mount it in the standard rear position or maybe on the Forward Draw Bar. I have Further ideas planned but will reveal them as they come to fruition.

No offensive... but thats one ugly trailer....

You mentioned this trailer can carry more weight... but could you not buy a trailer with better suspension?

By better suspension I assume you mean independent ?

Most I have seen don't have the same wheel travel as a Rangy.

I never really considered it's lack of ability to give other people an erection. :censored:
I kinda thought it might be a good idea to put camping equipment in it, and maybe a Tonne of firewood.
I didn't actually think anyone who owned a Land Rover of any description put any credence on looks. :p

I reckon I would put this in the same category. Dunno why I like it, I just do.
