personally i like them, mine are sealed/waterproofed with grease inside the caps

my only concern is finding a supplier that can make a custom set for my disco, as i am using the ones i got from the U.S. and they arent really the appropriate length, they work fine however

the part i am talking about is the grounding bar, i cannot stress this enough, do not trust the ground wires in your factory loom, they can cause issues with noise, and create problems that are hard to pinpoint.

I grounded everything (MS unit, EDIS module, LC-1 wideband O2 sensor, and relay to switch them all on) to this grounding bar, then used a single (thicker) wire to the negative terminal of my battery

I have had my disco 'squirted for nearly 2 years now, and recently i decided to pull all the related wiring out, and start from scratch as i had niggly little issues with sensor readings, and voltage drop. For a long time i just put it down to tuning inexperience. Since the re-think, it has run much better, and now that i have a fuse box dedicated to the setup, it will make troubleshooting easier in the future

It took a while to get my head around the concept of where to place the missing tooth in regards to TDC, i checked it with my timing light yesterday, turns out i was only 2 degrees off (this can easily be adjusted electronically), not bad for a first go (i havent adjusted it since the first time i attached the trigger wheel to the crank pulley)

Why not just keep the dizzy, you wont need the second edis then?

I set mine for around a static 20 deg advance - 10 deg was almost undriveable (lpg), Just had to compensate in the tables.

got the elko system on my d1 4.6l. only one elko fitter here in hobart, he's probably brilliant with holden/ford but nfi with a disco. eventually bought a cable from elko head office over in melbourne which they supplied a disk with. there is software you can download from the web but there are mods done for the australian market so it won't recognise the firmware on the lpg ecu (hence the need for the disk).

regards interfacing with your megasquirt, if you download the software you will find it has the wiring schematics in it and you can work out what you need to do to control it with megasquirt. you can see all of the parameters/configuration settings possible too. i've just installed EDIS and will be going for the first road test tomorrow using megasquirt (ignition only) as i can already control fuelling (lpg only).

it's now about 2 weeks after your post so you've probably got all this sorted but if the little i know can be of use happy to help.

I guess that is an option although I would have to change the plug leads from the coil packs (EDIS is coilpack) to the inbuilt dizzy every time I went from LPG to Petrol and vice versa. My intention with going crank fired is to try and attain very highly accruate high energy spark which will inturn give better tuneability and more power from less fuel.

My trigger turned up in the post from the mother country and it looks great. Now to work out how to fit it and replace the rear main seal whilst I am at it (engine is out).

thanks for that info, in the past week i have made an LPG interface on some perfboard, took me ages to suss it out, and when i plug it in, like you said it doesnt recognise the firmware, i have tried all of the software on the KME site, i am going to bite the bullet and buy a cable and cd from ELKO directly, how much did it cost you?

cable + cd was $150. cheap for what it lets you do, no more visits to the gasman.

Sorry mate, I thought you wanted a second edis module as a spare in case of failure.

re-read you post - are you running two sensors to offset the timing curve for lpg?

Did you know the MS will run switchable duel spark tables?

G'day guys

I have now got the megajolt instaled and up and running. The RR starts a lot better and runs a lot better when cold (in the morning on initial start up). The instal is pretty straight forward with no real problems at all.

I chose to mount the coils on the drivers side of the plenum (nice and high and dry) and mounted the EDIS where the original coil was (as power was easy to pick up here etc).

I have installed the MAP that came with the megajolt but will put it on a mates dyno and fine tune it soon, but the difference it has made is fantastic, highly recommend the change from dizzy to megajolt, you wont be disappointed.

I have posted some pics of the coils, trigger wheel & sensor, EDIS and PC program, along with a couple of up dated pics since lockers, axles, CVs etc etc were installed.

Also got my play tires at the start of the week. I have a boys weekend away next week from Walhalla to Jamieson so the river crossings should be a good test for the megajolt. I will post up some pics of the Rangie pulling the Nissans along when I get back.
