    RRC central locking

I think I'm in a bit of a pickle ... I have lost the central locking remote to my 93 Rangie .... I think I lost it at the shopping centre today ... I'm going to their office tomorrow (Tuesday) & If I can't find them, then I am going to have to replace it

So the Q would be ... can you just pull one "Central locking unit" from a 90RRC ... or a wrecked 93RRC .... and plug into a 93RRC? (plug & play)

Possibly When this happend to me, I just went to auto barn and purchased a universal remote and actuator kit and stuck it in the right hand door. Works a treat but the immobiliser and alarm are no more

I don't want the immobiliser side .... cause knowing my luck, They would break down in the middle of the bush ....

    I recon it would be plug,n play ... ??

BTW ... Good timing on this happening, ... cause Im just about to res-erect that "Borg Trans Case thread" of mine again and go the whole hog of a Auto with LT230 swap .... into my green 90 RR ....

Someone bought a whole 97 Disco
    Has a Motor Too ...
& has Electric leather seats ...

So hence, the great timing on the remote bit .... ... as it is the ride I'll be using while my green one is off the road

No harm in trying it Be interesting and I think likely. Surely Land Rover weren't cruel enough to change this set up year to year

Sounds like some one has a very worth wile project coming up

Mmm .. In retrospect .... The 93 rangie has those air pressure sensors on the rear view mirror .. where as the 90 does not ... So this has my head scratching a bit on compatibility ... But I do have a slight chance of a "93 Donor" .....

I hope so .... I have just suffered the humiliation of driving home in a borrowed 79ish Mazda 121 station wagon rust bucket ....

The radio was "Flash" tho ...

Up to 92 RRC Vogue had an aftermarket "Repeller" alarm and remote combined so no use looking earlier than 93.

Any RR with a Repeller alarm system is a dealer fitted accessory. Trivetts had a Repeller guy fitting these full time.

Any working classic RR remote (or 1995MY ES Disco) can be used on your RR. There is a procedure to follow but it's quite easily done.

Just make sure the replacement is the correct frequency (315MHz I believe).

I was told by the Repeller guy ( German tech who has been there since Adam was a boy and actually originally fitted the systems)at Repeller HQ at Hornsby that it was LRA which contracted to Repeller to fit all 92RRCs with the Repeller system. Mine was also originally sold by Arthur Garthon.

The other interesting thing I found out while chatting to him when he was repairing mine was that he recalled that LRA asked that the immobiliser not be connected, and he then proceeded to demonstrate to me that it was not connected by starting the motor with the alarm going off.

This was a weight off my mind as I feared that I might be left high and dry in the bush one day.

Out of the horse's mouth as they say.
