The AFM has been opened before by the last owner, I have always suspected that it might have been the cause behind the running rich, a problem I've had since I got the car. I have check the CTS it seemed ok, was at around 1500 at cold and went to around 500 when the engine was warmer.
I have the car booked for a service at discovery auto next week though so I might put off doing anything else at least until then. Thanks again for the tips.
