    rrc snorkel

hi there all, i have found a snorkel for my rangie, the engine is a 3.5 two carby 9.35 compression ratio with the two oval air filter setup, the snorkel tube is 2 and half inch od exhaust pipe the lenght will be 1900mm, i will fit a 180mm donaldson type pre cleaner to the top, do all you learned gentlemen think this setup will suck sufficient air into the engine.
    thanks from leyland

no idea, but when I was looking to fit one for my rangie 3.9EFI, the engine tuner/builder advised to get the pipes etc with the smoothest surfaces so as to not create too much turbulence

    Over blighty way.
The normal thing is to run twin pipes, normaly around the 80mm mark.
Striaght to the air in take, then put cyclonics after the filters.
and the most of these were serious challange trucks.
But if you are not planning on wadeing to often why not retro something like a forced air induction?
I have 4bbrl holley setup on mine and planning to fit bonnet scoop with side vents to increase air flow.

Uh, even though I am an old fart, I didn't really think about the 21/2 inch bit.
I think 3 inch or 80mm would be better . That is the normal size , but I think 2.5 inch will be OK on a 3.5, especially if you buy a couple of nice bends, so that there are no tight right angles

My 3.9 breathes happily through a 3 inch home made snorkel. I don't know if 2.5 inch would be big enough.

I do know a bloke who has twin snorkels on his 3.5 carb RRC, the pipes are about 2 inch from memory.

I thought 2.5 inches was too small.

I used 3 inch exhaust pipe but my classic had a 4.6 litre engine.
