Hi guys...
have been trying to figure out what auto this will have fitted?
Can't find any info on a 1980 model having an Auto?
Everywhere I checked says 83 on had 727? then later borg warner.
Looking to fit Auto to a Stage one series 3 v8 ute, and figure the best way is to buy whole car...

if you can get the VIN, it will tell you. The 9th digit should be a "3" (727, 3 speed auto IIRC)
Does anyone know much about the box on here for sale..
Says its based on a LT95, ?
Will try and post link, its in the DRIVETRAIN for SALE...

Not sure if Convertor included, are they hard to come by?
Thanks for your help..

It will likely be BW35 or C4, both 3 speeds, a pic of the shifter and its position will tell you, I think slunnie has a thread with some pics![]()
From what I remember, specialist landie shops were putting in autos in RR for a few years before the factory item was produced. I am not sure what boxes were used.
They were all LT95 based and either cut the gearbox off the tfr case and connected the auto to the LT95 tfr case or took the innards out of the LT95 gearbox and put the auto box inside the gutted LT95 box casing.

I think the early, pre factory versions used the Chrysler TorqueFlite gearbox but I cannot remember.
