Example, IMHO a 1HD-FT is far more economical than a 300Tdi.
The saving in fuel of 3-4L/100km from the 300Tdi is merely compensation for it's inability to perform the degree of work a 1HD-FT will. In other words, I'd rather use 14l/100km knowing that
every hill will be flattened in 5th gear instead of a slow, irritating trip.
Similar sort of comparison re 3.5 V8 and Isuzu
