4.11's in a classic rangie VIEWS???

    Hi all,

I have an oppertunity to buy a new set of 4.11's

    i'm running 34's with all the standard drivetrain 4 speed box in a 76 and a 4.4.

I want some thoughts on advantages and disadvantages, whats the major advantage to 4.11's do i need them, i hear alot of people not running these diff ratios on bigger tyres and just need some comforting thoughts on wether i should go for it or not....

did you notice a difference or not??

    thanks simon

    Hi Simon
I changed mine to 4.11 in a 90 RRC when I went with 255/85 BFG MT because it would not pull 5th gear if there was a slight hill and I lost some of the lower gearing in low range, might be different with your 4.4. Also speedo was way out. I guess the only difference was that I also put in Maxi Drive lockers front and back at the same time. Overall the gearing change was worth it in mine
    Cheers

They return your gearing back to standard with 33's. If your struggling to pull gears, having to regularily change gear, or have the car runnin gaway from you down hill then well worth it.

I run them with my 35s and it drives really well. I have good engine braking (even with an auto) and it doesnt rev too high on the highway. Mines not a daily driver, but 4.11s would make a daily driver much better around town etc.

If you can afford it the it is the next step if you want to run larger tyres regularly. Do it!

Its not a daily driver, the car pulls fine on road and off, the gearing is very low at the best of times its much lower than the 88 in the family.

the 4.4 pulls like a freight train all the time the first gear in high range is a little hard to get off the line but once driving it seems fine!!

    thanks again.

Only down side with 4.11's is, They have less CWP teeth contact so may be easier to strip than a 3.54.

Despite the obvious teeth arrangement, the 4.11 from all manufacturer's are approximately 30% stronger than the original. See below why.
    Superior composite and design.

The same cannot be said for the 4.10 ratio.
I changed my vehicle over because the little 3.5 V8 struggled on the highway with a roof rack and a full bum of camping equipment.

I find now the truck uses less fuel around town than with the standard ratio.
And the only time it uses more fuel is on the highway with the standard tyres 29 Inch and no load. Overall with the 3.5 litre engine you will find an improvement on fuel consumption.

The design is STRONGER. you can see the photo can't you.

    Cheers Buzz
