    The time has come

Well after some consideration as to whether I should sell the '94 soft dash and upgrade(?) to a 2000odd P38 I have decided to upgrade the '94 as the advice I got was the P38's have their share of defects and I have already had the motor overhauled in the '94.

So..........I fronted up to Kevin at Rovertech last Saturday, we went through the car on the hoist and listed all that needed doing including replacing the air suspension with 2" lift King Springs, bilsteins and other sundry bushes and hoses that needed replacing.

Today I purchased a Haltech 1000 EMS which I will install over the next couple of weeks and which will be tuned on the dyno by Dave McLaughlin of TRG..........SWMBO is not happy with the performance but hopefully after that

All being well after all that I will consider air lockers just to make it off road competitive

They are a nice Rangie. Be a hard decision trading out of it I'd imagine.

    Richard ....

I would question the idea that the Springs are a upgrade ...

All Paul needs to do now is offer an EAS compatible lift kit for the classics.... why wont anyone do this stuff for the classics...?
Paul, are you reading this...??? Paul.....???? PAUL??????!!!!!!!!
    hehe

The ride on bags is far superior to springs. A little compassion and understanding and it will serve you well.

Like a saying I saw somewhere once, "the quality of the ride will be remembered long after the cost of repairing is forgotten."

    Cheers

Sorry Mike I didn't reply sooner.

I had given the mods some thought and came to the decision based on:

    • I intend to set it up for 4 wheel driving in some of the heavier terrain
    • The air suspension being of the early type would not be as effective as coils
    • The air suspension needed some work on it and my worry was a future cost
    • Reliability and not subject to puncturing of the coils
    • The track record of my earlier RR fitted up in a similar fashion
    • I have kept all the Air pieces and could replace them if I wish or pass them on when I sell.

Having said all that I love the air suspension in my D3 but we are talking of 14 years improvement.

I've been watching Matt & Tony do the airbag set up and am fairly keen on what they are doing ... They are setting up their own valve blocks etc ...

Anyways ... I'll be watching your build with interest ...

Classic with Manual AIr Set up

Hi guys, was just reviewing the comments concerning the Air suspension on the RR.
I have a 93 Auto and after having spent $$$ in regular repairs to the systems, not mention the lock out of suspension when fault codes arise, I decided upon going for a "manual" air suspension and doinf away with the ECU and fault codes etc...

I should have it back this week and early indications from the mechanic is the system is working well, updated air bags (stronger), in cabin air guages for "dial up" height settings, the orginal compressor ir backed up with an ARB compressor that activates the rear diff lock plus an additional air tank.

Above for information, as I too wanted to keep the air suspension but not rely on the ECU, thus have gone with development of manual system.
