Hi all im looking at buying a rrc 1983 model the only thing that im abit concerned of is that the oil pressure guage sits at 1 and a 1/2 to 2 when truck is warmed up is this normal?
someone told me that low pressure could mean alot of money!
the owner has just had the truck serviced oil, plugs, ect

    Hi to you

Rover V8 run fairly low oil pressure from new .... 20 to 25 psi at idle ... 30 to 35 psi at 2500 rpm

    It's a 1983 model ... did it drive nice?

If it runs fine without knocking just run a slightly higher viscosity oil, not a real problem on an oldie.

I ran a oil pressure gauge in my last rangie and it was amazing to see the difference different oils make.

I ran a cheaper Penrite oil for a while, I think a 20/50 mineral and changed to a fully synthetic 5/40.
Pressure was better at idle even when warm and under load being a 4.6 which I did give a bit of a flogging, it help pressure much better.

When pressure started to drop I also found it was time for new oil.
I did that every 10k km's, well I only did about 15k km's in it total before I sold it but thats another story.

Try a different oil and good quality filter.
    As Beeutey suggested.

It drives alrite has a bit of a shake on idel recon it just needs to get a Proper tune

So changing to 5/40 oil would be better but is it ok for v8 3.5 as yours was a 4.6?

    G'day Maikolo

I run a 85 3.5ltr carbied RRC on gas, and use Penrite 20w50 everyday driving with filter changes at 5,000 klms and have had no problems, only have oil light at the moment but it goes out instantly on start up and stays that way I only have a slight oil leak at the front timing case oil seal, motor has done 215,000klms .

    cheers
