Leather Seats
Ok,
So my 93 Rangie has beautiful leather seats thanks to the sheepsskins covers that have been on for the past 12 years. But of course the electrics are up to ****, passenger side works fine but drivers side doesn't at all. The switches work as I can hear the relay click underneath + electric mirrors move when I use the switches. Since this car will be used for camping/weekend purposes, I want to put in manual operated seats and do away with Mr Lucas as much as possible.
Was a bit of a bastard to get out because seat was stuck in far back position so I had to use my drill and manually drive the cables.
1) Is there any conversion kit around? seems like a waste to get rid of the nice leather
2) If anyone wants to swap let me know
Cheers

g'day try pulling the switches apart and spray metal bits with 'contact cleaner', done the treat on the seat, mirror and the other evil lucus parts on my 92 vouge and that was close to a year ago and still working fine

Hi Ronette,
I dismissed the switch as being faulty as electric mirrors move when switch is used. Also I can hear contact underneath click when I operate switch. But maybe it still could be the switch? I like the idea of never worrying about electric seats again though.
Its a bit like the airsuspension.I found a coil conversion kit for 400au and will be swapping the air out with coils. Just one less thing to worry about lol

In my 93 Vogue that I just bought the seat back wasn't working for the drivers side. I pulled the switch completely apart and gave the contacts a bit of a clean up and put it back together again and wha la...it works again. BUT! internals of the switch are a bit of a nightmare 16 ball bearings and 8 springs! So perhaps a can of contact cleaner sprayed inside would be the go!

try and get a hold of an old set of cloth seats and swap the leather over with them, exactly what i did and i now have nice leather manual seats..
little bit of effort, but it goes together well.

Hi all, just a status update with the seat ECU. Well I finally got my seat ecu back from the local tv and video repair store. IT WORKS NOW
he replaced the 2 ic chips and also found a broken track and ran a jumper. Electric mirror now works too but only drivers side, passenger side doesn't, feels really bad when you manually move it, gears must be stuffed or something, but I'm still happy about the results.
Cheers
