The first thing to do to improve fuel economy - to quote a hand written note, I saw on a sign up the bush years ago - "Lift um Foot"!

I have fitted Quite a few Wade 259A Cams to Rover v8s with much success. Maximum torque is around 2200-2800 which is where you are at 100KMH in top. The best I got (average) was 29mpg; 10.5:1 CR,SU carbs, and 33" mud terrains, Bosch hall effect dissy, 2 1/2" exhaust. The worst was around thr 25MPG mark from a 8.13:1 CR motor that had done about 400000km!

    Tyre pressure

just another quick one regarding tyre pressure. I have just inherited my Father in laws (don't worry - he's not dead, just didn't use it) 85. He was running only 35psi in the tyres, they are just highway tread. I have pumped them up to 50psi and am getting about 2-3 mpg better milage. It is fine at speed- even up to 120kph (on the gps, the speedo is 15kph out). I figure this is as good as it will get without going to LPG.
