Still haven't fixed this, checked on the price of a 2nd hand dizzy from British Off-road and they want $275 for one!!! *falls on floor*

Does anyone have one cheaper that they could sell me at all?

    Cheers,

    Dave

    electrical issue?

Hey ive had similar probs with my '87 and pretty much is there is any electriacl issue the ecu will cut out the injectors. firstly i would check all the connecters to coolant temp sensor, oil pressure sensor, and the amplifier module on the side of the dizzy.
recently i had a broken wire going into the connector of the amp module and had the exact same prob.
otherwise check the intake to make sure there are no leaks coz that will cut fuel once it starts for a min
theres a spot to start i think

Hi Dave, just wondering if you got the old girl going yet? Post an update when you get a moment.

    Hi Gav,

I'm afraid she is still sitting forlornly under the car port.

I also can't find a distributor for a decent price, but my mechanic friend-of-a-friends-cousin thinks he's found one for $150.
He was supposed to come around today & fit it, but of course he hadn't got ahold of the distributor yet. *sigh* At least he actually phoned to tell me he wasn't coming.

I'm still a little peeved as I've only done 16.5km on her lol
The missus still gives me grief over that... every time she sees one, she's like oooOOOoo there's a Range Rover and that one goes!

If the mechanic dude can't fix it, I'm calling Andrew @ LRA and get her towed there. At least I'll know it'll be fixed properly!

No good mate - hopefully you can get it sorted soon and start putting a few more k's on it. I have to go and change a tyre on mine now - went out this morning and the front right is flaaaat!

The other day I went to take it for a run, and it wouldn't start - tried it again the next day and it was fine... May spend the day on the electrics and see if I can't fix a few niggling issues. The weather is slowly getting better and I can't wait for Summer to get here.

    Cheers mate - Gav

If you want a working ignition amp and coil, I have some off a vehicle that I upgraded the other day to a Bosch ignition amp. Replacing the whole dissy for just a blown amp seems like overkill to me. PM me and I can send it express post. You will need to confirm your dissy has a 2 pin connector on the top of the amp screwed to the side of the dissy.

Hi bee utey... parts arrived this morning, thanks heaps for that.

I also found a dizzy on ebay.co.uk last night for £10.50.
With FedEx shipping it worked out about $85 which didn't seem that bad to me.

Hopefully soon she'll be back on the road yaaay

Me too! I am dying to get her ready.
The dizzy will be here next weekend, so I have my fingers crossed that it fixes it. I might see if the ignition module makes any difference first.
Give me something to do this weekend lol

    Cheers,

    Dave

    Bah!

The dizzy arrived early (only 5 days from England) so I got the mechanic out to do it cos I was ay work and can't pull any more sickies lol

It's not the dizzy, it's not the amp, and it's not the coil.

Something is killing the injectors- he said it's more than likely the MAF sensor and he'd brought one with him but it only had 6 pins on it whereas mine has 7 so off he went in search of one- he hasn't returned LOL

I'm calling Andrew @ LRA tomorrow, and get her fixed properly.
