Noisy Fuel Pump
Hi, this morning on the school run, the gentle 'ticking' noise the fuel pump normally makes in my 85 RR is starting to sound more like a 'banging' noise, and I need to turn the radio up to make it go away!
Is this the sound of impending doom, and should I stay close to home with it until I can source a new one?
Thanks

Usually they just stop until you make a "kicking" noise.
Seriously, there is a filter at the base of the Facet which maybe need s cleaning, or more likeley one of the rubber mounts has broken allowing it to touch the body.
Have a look.

Right on both counts mate. The rubber mounts have sagged over time, and is just allowing the pump to touch it when running. There was also plenty of crud in the filter too, so I cleaned that out while I was at it.
Thanks heaps.
