I've bought GQ mirrors (flat) 2 screws that looks like they will work, if anyone else has this probelm.
I've got an 84 RR (1/4 windows) and I made the mistake of trying to adjust the side mirrors...drivers side is now broken through the screw that holds the 2 pieces together.....
anyway had anybody put mirrors on their RR from other makes.
I've heard DN85? (Can't remember what the model was) Hilux might be a goer

Sounds like a better idea than what my Father in Law did with mine (while it was still his) After breaking the mirror in a similar fashion, he put it back together again with small bits of aliminium plate, self tappers & aryldite. - Not pretty. Mine are electric though, so I haven't replaced it - it still looks just the same as when he did it, but since then the screws have gone rusty...

I wish it was a better idea. the base plate for the GQ mirrors is alot shorter then the RR, so the mirror fouls on the car. At the moment I'm trying to figure out how to use the RR base plates with the GQ mirrors...
I'll put up some photos after i sus it out
Got it sus'd out with my misses old man on the weekend.
Trying to paint them upbut the rain isn't helping.
It involved welding the GQ mirror dome onto the cast insert.
(it welded but wasn't pretty but looks good now that the bogs covered it)
My little bro used Paj mirrors on his 83 2 door...
