    lowered shock absorber mounts

Gday all ive bought a set of lowered shock absorber mounts for my 1984 range rover these are supposed to give the suspension more downward travel, i am next going to get a 2 inch suspension lift to fit in conjunction with the said mounts. ive got these lowered mounts because i think that the suspension can only go up as far as the bump stops, but downward it can go as far as each individual setup will let it, has any one else used these lowered mounts and how did they perform. also i must get longer brake hoses. thanks from leyland.

Hardly anyone in Australia uses lowered mounts, that's a very English thing, here we tend to use longer shocks and raise the towers to get more effective travel. (a longer travel shock has a longer closed length too so the tower/mount has to be raised)
With lowered towers you stand the very real risk of the shock absorber bottoming out internally.

Yep, lowered mounts is a bodge. I don't know why they do it to be honest, its a rediculous concept. Use longer shocks and if anything raise the upper shock mount or lower the bottom mount.

    RE Shocks and springs etc

Go to a suspension place with these two dimensions and they may be able to help:
    1. compressed length from top mount to bottom mount, with axle on bump stop. just on 1 side though, opposite side should be hanging as low as possible to simulate cross axleing etc
    2. extended length jet before spring dislocates

    try suspension stuff in Brisbane
