Just bought an 83 classic, grille question...

    Hi there forumites,
I've just sold my P38A and gone back to an '83 classic, it's a bit further back than i wanted to go but this one is a gem. same person has owned the vehicle for about 20 years, it's had a heart transplant, has a rather large engine (5.7L) strapped onto the front of the 727 Torque flight, goes extremely well actually, all the running gear is built to suit. The vehicle is now nicknamed "Horse" seeing it pulls like one.
Anyway to my question, can the later 85-86 grille befitted to the earlier model, in addition to this can the later door mirrors als be fitted onto the earleir model, the mirrors that go where traditional quarter lights go?
    Thanks in anticipation.

The '85-'86 grille is virtually, if not, the same as the '83.
The plastic grill came out in '87 if that's the one you want.

To fit that, you need the headlight buckets as well I believe.

I fitted the later plastic grille to mine. See my pics and how to at Range Rover Grille Conversion

As Scouse has noted, you will need headlight buckets.

    Hi Mike,
Might be............. well at least half of it is. Owned by a bit of a LR guru, a gentleman. Bit of a whizz with the spanners. This gent seems to have a bit of a following, well at least his workmanship and vehicles do.

    Hi Mike,
I'm of a similar generation to the gent, I appreciate good machinery, hence the reason I'm involved in the marque myself. I will treat it well, don't worry about that, I had the feeling that if I wasn't going too I more than likely wouldn't of been allowed to purchase the said vehicle anyway.
I'm going to do some little bits and pieces, a rear locker which the gent is going to install of course, a subtle lift nothing to outrageous and a new set of boots, I think the ones that are on there have done their dash. You'll recognise the vehicle if you see it around, say hi.
