I swapped the stalk over from the LHS to the RHS (and the one on the RHS to the LHS) on my '86 (or was it my '83) RR. It just meant the symbols were upside down.
I was browsing (as you do) at a couple of local wrecking yards on the weekend. One yard had an 82 4 door and the other an 82 2door. I noticed the 2 door had the indicator, horn, flasher combo switch on the RHS of the column.
Is this normal as I would love to swap my (84) over to match my work ute and series collection.

Ron,
That's the first thing I looked at. From what I recall, all the symbols (on all stalks) on the 2 door were displayed correctly.

G`day
They went ISO ( left ) in the 82/3 yr model through to the last the classic 95 yr model , prior to that they were all on the right as with the 2 door you looked at .
As Ron suggests if the symbols don`t matter you can swap yours .

I had a 82 2 door and was on the left. Ever since I got rid of it I have despised everything I have driven with the indicator on the right. Mates 82 4 door was on RHS.
Best day of my life was picking up the D2 and finding the stalk on the left.
The indicators on the left would not be to bad if the RRC was all I drove, but wife and I both have Falcoons as daily drivers as well as a few series 2A/3's.
I actually swapped the wife's x-trail over.
That lasted 4 hours...
