    84 rrc Help Please !!!

Hey guys i'm still very new to Rangies and i'm not to far off getting mine on the road. There are a couple of things that are bugging me before i take it for tune and roadworthy hoping you guys can help!!!

First ? : Under the carbie passanger side there is what looks like a vacc pipe, after running for awhile it leaks couple of drops of fuel tried blocking it off, the hose just filled up with fuel and ran worse. The carbs have been kitted and its running rich could this have somthing to do with it. Can someone tell me what it is and what it should be conected to if anything?

Second ? : My brake booster had a vacc leak at back of master cylinder took off master cylinder cheaked diaphram in booster. All looked good but there was no gasket at back of master cyl so we made one leaking sound gone but still conserned that it had leak. replacing brake pads this weekend should i get another booster before i bother or have i fixed it?

Any help would be great thanx heaps guys!!!

    G'day Oscarthegrouch

On my 85 carb unit it is as follows, fuel in from filter to L/h carb then the cross over to R/hand carb, just above there is a thinner tube that links the L/H to the R/H that is the equalising tube, up on the air horn from the cleaner there is a pipe from each carby to the charcole cannister that is airpolution stuff, off from the R/H carb fuel pipe is also the fuel return hose, all of these fuel hoses are made of hard black plastic, but the air polution tubes are rubber

    Hope that is of help

    cheers

Weeell, AFAIR on my old Rangies the smaller tube was the "Fuel Enrichener" ie the choke.
There is a set of orifices gaskets etc , that the choke lever activates a richer mixture through on the LH carb and a tube takes some of the fuel across to the RH carb.
If the tube is detached and leaking, then the carb needs an overhaul including a set of enrichener gaskets.

Hey guys thanks for your help so far sorry i didn't answer you blknight should have checked this sooner. Ok i've attached a pic of my engine bay i don't know how to crop it and zoom in so if you can zoom in you can just see the offending pipe between the base of the carb and the flame canister hose. when we got the car it had nothing on it and still doesn't .
Is this what you are refering to PhilipA should it conected to the other carb via some hose i don't think there is anywhere for it at present if some one could take some pics or something that would be great Thanx again guys!!!

hey just looking at page 20 to 22 of your attachment philipA the pipe is the one from the bottom of the monting plate with the butterfly in the pic !!!

Although there seems no real reference in the whole document , I think it is the vacuum retard stub.

Late 70's early 80s had vacuum retard as well as advance . if so it should be blocked if you do not have a vacuum retard any more.

BTW, that document I referred to is a beauty, and is a great guide for tuning and rebuilding your 175s.
