Had the same prob on my '87 - it was NOT "definately" the brake booster (which was, and is, fine) but as others have said the master cylinder needed replacing.

I would check ALL you flexible hoses for signs of weeping /leaking,with the motor running and vaccuum get somebody to press the pedal and check the hoses for expansion REPLACE pronto, and if any look "Old" as in cracked I would replace, also check all disc calipers for leaks.
