3.5lt tuning
Hello All,
I have a 89 Range Rover Vougue and was wondering what everyone thought was the best tuning set up in regards to timing and what ever else can be adjusted.
Currently i have it set to the manufacturers "TDC" spec, but the old girl feels very sluggish on acceleration and seems to be lacking, even though at times it works really hard. As well as using what I would consider more than its share of fuel.
Any suggestions would be great as im about to trip up north and will be towing a trailer.
Cheers

Anywhere between 6 and 10 degrees advance will work well, I usually set dual fuel cars at 10 and they handle petrol easily at that. Also check vacuum advance operation. I have met a few blocked vacuum connectors at the manifold.
If your mixtures are way off you can pry off the cover of the air flow meter and adjust the position of the spring and wiper arm. Not for the faint heatred but a useful technique if it is really bad. Note starting positions if you do.
Also check the fuel pressure regulator is properly connected with its little vacuum hose to the inlet manifold and is not blocked. You can check fuel pressures are to spec by tee-ing a pressure gauge to the inlet of the fuel rail if there's doubt that it isn't correct.
