    air suspension

    Can anyone advise the type and series of the compressor on the classic, its a thomas from what I can find out but no info on series

    hi the compressor in the classic ive been told is a thomas can anyone advise what series they are? chris

    Comp. Motor re-build

    IF... you're reasonably handy and methodical... re-building the compressor is not too difficult, just fiddly especially around re-fitting brushes / cover on motor.
    Parts are reasonably priced from Paul38, and whilst you're there, get the EAS rescue kit, very much worth having for peace of mind... and "yes" you probably can buy all the bits and make your own... but pay yourself $25 an hour and its cheaper buying it...

    Haunt the 'net for how-to's, and don't forget to hunt down and fix ALL air-leaks.

    Or look at a bigger (and noisier) compressor.... which is what I'll be doing if/when mine packs up again.

    I've already spent over 20% of my Vogue's purchase price on repairs & replacements, most of which has been on the air suspension.- Compressor re-build (which I was allowed to watch) and 4 new Gen III Arnotts airsprings.

    With hindsight (and lots of advice/comments here) I would have been better off if I'd spent the money on a proper coil re-conversion.

    But I love the Geek-factor of the airsprings....

    And don't feel bad about wasting money on a Rover... we ALL do it !

    The Pump RR Model is very similar to a Thomas 315 as it is infact made by Thomas as you are no doubt aware.
    If you are after an upgrade and willing to do a few mods do a search on e-bay US and look for "air ride". here you will find hundreds of suitable pumps most with greater capacity. Make sure they will run all day at 150psi. These pumps are used on low rider custom cars and big trucks. In my honest opinion you would be better of reconditioning your old one or find a suitable second hand replacement. The Thomas pump has got a great reputation and most probably has given 16 years or more of good service

    I have recently had 3 together on the bench, all with new piston seals, on test one was pumping much less than the other 2 so be aware they do wear out eventually.
