A bit lucky Chris - I had my 4HP22 fail on the way home from work last year, I had enough momentum + a little drive to get off the main road and around a corner. Then I had a little drive in first and some in Lo reverse, but by the time the tilt tray arrived, it didn't have enough drive to even get up the tray to load.
It was replaced with an exchange unit from a specialist LR Mechanic in western Sydney. Before it was delivered to me by my mechanic it was returned to the Auto-service and 3 weeks later returned. It is currently back in Western Sydney because the regulator (or whatever) had failed. Wouldn't change gear first thing in the morning and was always slower to change than the original box.
Next time I'll be using a new box for basically the same as the reco'ed one!
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
