I thought the antenna was built into the rear demister circuit.
The aerial amplifier is in the rear above the headlining so I thought it hooked up there somehow.
Hi people - radio reception on my spare classic, a 1991 HiLine, is hopeless but I'm at a loss where the antenna is located.
My first thought is that it was a element in the glass. Is this true?
If yes, the fact that it has had a standard screen replacement in the past may account.
If that is the case, where is the tail end of the antenna wiring?
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Thats right , its integrated into the \REAR windscreen demister . Mine (88RRC) doesnt seem to have much range either , but I cant work out where on earth to fit a Electric aerial , or is it back to standard type aerial mounted on the valence ?
Yes, on my 1992 , Eurovox must have retro fitted an antenna on the RH front of the Plenum. It is generally accepted that the rear window antenna is unsuitable for Australia.
I have since replaced the steel antenna with a Mobile 1 High gain FM antenna made of fibreglass.
I am surprised any were sold with the rear window antenna connected.

I don't have any real reception dramas with my standard set up.
I initially thought it wasn't too crash hot when I bought the car & fitted a normal aerial on the bullbar - it didn't make any difference.
Compared to my other cars with conventional aerials I'd say it'd be about 95%.

I initially replaced my glass mounted aerial with one on the spare wheel carrier. I later fitted a spring base aerial to the panel in front of the windscreen.
On my 94 Vogue SE its supposed to be the funny things in/on the RH rear side-window. - Apparantly both sides are used overseas, but we only get one side...
My FM is ok, but limited range, and the AM is terrible. My tape deck does'nt want to know about tapes... but the CD stacker works a treat!
I'll just be a snob and say that there's nothing on the radio waves that are worthy of my attention....
Drop the headlining above the RH rear side window. Up in the roofmount will be a 12v signal amplifier. If its not working your reception will be rubbish and unless you can find a secondhand one, rewire a high gain fiberglass one off the bullbar. 1/4-1/2 wave 27mhz CB units work well.
Don't try running a new antenna back thru the antenna amplifier, run it straight to the deck.
Cheers
Andrew
