guard v's tire advice
i just bought a 91 4 door and have thrown 265.75.r16 on disco steels on it cos there the same height as a 750 which fits just a fair bit wider and it rubs.
i've got a 2" lift on its way but what do i actually need to cut cos it seems to hit the doors.
photos would be great! and ill take any advice
never trust people who say they'll fit fine!

Sigh!
This has come up over and over , during the last 10years.
The biggest you can fit without much work is 245.75x16.
To fit safely in all conditions such as corrugations, you have to remove the flange from 12 oclock to 3 oclock at the front of each rear guard.
You also have to cut off the bolt that sticks out at 12 oclock on the inside of each guard. Mine has never rubbed. Nil problem in the front except to lengthen the lock stops.
For 265s, I imagine you would either have to roll the flange on the back of the guard from 12 oclock to 9 oclock or cut off the flange (Disco camel cut)
I was on a trip with a 2 door who had 235.85s on and on max articulation they would rub up into the rear of the guard for about 20-40CM. And two doors have more room that 4 doors.
You may have to even cut off the front flange completely and also a strip off the bottom of the door.
When you look at it, you think how can that touch, and I had 4 guys stand on the rear bumper of a car which had plucked out the front flange with 245s, and there was about 20cm clearance. That is how I learned that the bumpstop can compress 20Cms and the bushes in the suspension arms can also compress about 10Cms or so.
Of course one fix is to fit longer bumpstops , but that sort of defeats the purpose.

yea its amazing how much touches in the back guards! i lifted it up with a fork lift to see where it hits. the front is all fine just wasn't shaw about cutting the back ones. but its got to be done! but longer bumps would be the go.
