    200tdi manual to Rangie auto

I have a tdi from a manual Disco and want to put it in a 93 auto Rangie and keep the auto box. If an auto back plate from a 200 is not available will a 300 back end bolt straight up to the 200 engine and also mate to the existing box?
Will the gearbox input shaft etc mate up or is a diesel auto different.
Other threads suggest welding the Disco engine mounts to the Rangie chassis.
Why cant the Rangie chassis mounts be left and new bolt on mounts made for the engine instead?
    Thanks, any ideas appreciated.

The 300 backplate won't mount up to the 200 as the way in which the rear main seal is retained is completely different. You really need the 200 backplate.
