    The value of experience I guess. I had it happen to one of our convoy in the middle of the Saudi desert in 1987. We had to cut away the shroud so the bloke could get home. It just came to me.
    Mate , I wish I was as good with Tatts numbers. We have been using the same numbers for 30 plus years with no big win.

    Good one PhillipA , your the king of "guess whats wrong questions !!! with absolutely no useful information " especially when they try to throw you off by suggesting whats at fault . A La "suspect oil pump"

    Gauge straight to max and staying there would be two wires on the wrong terminals on the back of the gauge. Mine is like this and I'm too slack to fix it. Could probably find the colour codes if you want. Has been in an old post.

    Re: knocking noise. My POS had a grumble from 'LH front hub area' when turning right. Installed new CV......... grumble remained. In the end turned out to be LH extractor collector just touching chassis rail as the mighty 350 shifted slightly to the left when turning due to......... one stuffed RH mount.

    Haha those damn engine mounts! in regards to the guage it didn't always go straight to max it actually used to work! until i went fwding one time. i thought the lead had come off but have since cleaned then up and reterminated them at the oil pump end but didn't fix it. will have to pull the guage out and have a look like you said. cheers!
