disaster struck today... fire in the rangie

So i changed the dizzy cap, and leads on my 1975 rangie today, made sure it ran well (which it did) then returned inside my house, only to hear knocking on my door 20 mins later to find smoke pouring out from underneath the car, a neighbor called the fire brigade who promptly extinguished the fire.
turns out whoever set up the dual batteries before i bought the car ran the positive wire between each battery directly over then engine and alternator, over time the insulating wore through causing it to short when in contact with the metal, once this got hot the fuel line directly above caught on fire.
the result is below, the main things damaged are the brake master cylinder which is melted through, and the carbies which got hit pretty hard, the dampeners missing, somewhere within the carbies i assume. and all rubber work and electrical wiring is pretty much gone, including dizzy cap and leads.
so i guess what im getting at is if anybody can look at the below pics and see pieces missing and you know where a replacement can be found, any help and advice will be appreciated.

Fire is always the worst. It destroys pretty much everything from the heat- I would definately be replacing everything rubber or electrical, the fan, pull the intake off replace all those gaskets and whatever else is cactus. Pull the radiator get that checked as the solder has probably melted, shocks might be rooted too given their location in the engine bay..

Really it is alot of damage and alot of work to fix it..Sorry to hear that it caught fire My rear loom shorted out and burnt the rest of the loom, but luckily the rest of the car survived.

Are you insured? That be my 1st call.

I had a minor electrical fire in a Mazda 929 wagon, old clunker and fire did not look nearly as bad as yours but was quickly written off.

I do hope it works out and many parts be available from triumph rover spares.

Jeep spares in sydney I believe have a couple of rangies for parts.(e-bay $1 for a wheel nut)
There also was someone sell early parts in parts.
Best to google "2 door range rover" and waste several hours.

Bad luck about the bbq - it looks rather horrible.

While you're considering what to do, add 'what about a fuel injected engine?' to the list of questions. You may get onto a later loom in better condition and the change may be a little less fraught with "wtf next?" moments.

Carb rebuild could end up a bit expensive.

    Just a thought.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the ideas, injection is a good idea but I have no experience with them. I managed to get a manafold with 2 good carbies and and all the rubber work involved for $200 today from the wreckers so that's a good start.

At least it could have been worse. You didn't lose the whole car.

Be careful with any rubber that's heat-affected. When burnt it turns into a very nasty substance I can't remember the name of. This includes brake seals and so on.
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.
