replace rear Bench seat for split fold?

    Hi folks,

I am wondering if anyone has replaced the rear Bench seat for 60/40 split folds?

I have an 88 classic (previously a VM diesel) that has a rear bench seat.

I am thinking that I would like to upgrade the rear seat to a 60/40 split fold.

I have not yet looked too closely at what might need to be done, but suspect that the (latching?) brackets on either side may need to be replaced.

Does anyone know if this is a relatively straight forward job, or are there hidden complications?

By the way, I did search & found plenty on front seat alterations, but nothing on the rear seats!

    any help greatly appreciated.

well it seems like no one has done this before, so does that mean I have to post up my (assumed) success in the projects section?

By the way, does any one know what a rear 60/40 would weigh?

    heres hoping ........

Disco 1 or 2 rear seats would be my choice. Not very heavy. You will need engineer's approval for the mountings though.

I have heard of others who have just bolted them in from a donor vehicle.
the bolt holes are all the same from memory

It might be better to compare another car side to side with yours. That way you know exactly what you need to do the job.

My RRC lives near Liverpool if you're out that way at all.

    Thanks for the responses.

400HPONGAS - I cant see any photo in my other post: - dont know if that's 'cause I'm at work & there is some restrictions - I'll check when I get Home.

Bradtot - I believe the VM was in essence, a (relative) poverty Pack, hence the rear bench.

Scouse - thanks for the offer, I will probably end up at the wreckers to pry the various bits off a Highline or similiar.

I hope it all comes together without any drama - I will post up results.
