    Maybe it is that the older ones are older, although 94 is probably OLD.
    I know my 92 had a swivel bearing cone not fully home from NEW. But then it is older than a 94.

    Update

    Hi All,
    Just got the vehicle back and I thought I would post an update for your elucidation.

    - The Swivel bearing preload was adjusted and the steering appears to be fixed. I have yet to get the vehicle over about 80km but so far it seems much better. That's one for the AULRO forum collective wisdom!!!

    - The poor running has been tracked down to 2 possibilities. The dealer said that there appeared to be "interference" with the ignition. They replaced the ECU and also tested the alternator and said it was not supplying clean power. It was swapped out and the running seems perfect on both LPG and petrol. Like I said, I have yet to have it at highway speeds but all seems well. they fixed it on Thursday but kept it Friday to drive it from cold and put some freeway miles on it to make sure it was good.

    To add to this, the dealer gave me a loan car for the needed 3 days, even though they knew I would put 500kms on it. They diagnosed the problems, fixed them kept me updated as to progress. I picked it up this morning and they apologised for the trouble and charged me exactly nothing.

    I know I probably paid above the going price for this vehicle but the $$ cost and personal time fixing it if it was a private sale is frightening. I guess I have been lucky with this and total kudos to Ritters in Melbourne.

    Nice to hear of a dealer being so supportive and helpful (financially!)

    - I went the other way and bought 'privately', and no, would'nt do that again for any car over $2000...

    Yeah. Good of 'em to fix it gratis, but it would have been nicer if they'd done the due dilligence and the decent thing before they sold it to you - ie serviced it and tested it thoroughly and not wasted your valuable time. I've bought second hand from Ritter, and not only do they charge top dollar they refused me point blank to release their own service records for the car (once
    i'd bought it). No service record with the beast of course. Caveat emptor and all that I know. Still, they do shine 'em thoroughly before they let 'em out the door, being careful to keep custody well beyond the mandatory coolin' off period. Lest ye wise up too early to any potentially deal breaking imperfections. Smart operators. Maybe times have changed under new management...
