    Rangie 4x4 Automotive

G'day guys, does anyone know if Adrian from Rangie 4x4 Automotive is still doing Rangie stuff? I hear that he's now running a TJM outlet.

Also, has anybody used him before. I've bought a few parts of him some years ago and he seemed like a decent bloke and obviously very knowledgable given his long association with the brand.

Time to spend some cashola on the old girl and bring her up to scratch.

    Cheers,
    Dave

He closed down in Lilydale and moved to a premises on Canterbury Road, Kilsyth. I don't think he is trading under that name anymore though. When he left lilydale he sold a lot of the part and bits he had stockpiled.

There are plenty of other good land rover mechanics around Melbourne though...

Thanks Angus. Who would you recommend?

Basically I have a bit of a predicament. My old two door is falling apart but has some decent bits and pieces on it, I'm wondering if I buy a newer (probably late 80s) model and transfer as much as I can over, or do I just fix up what I have; I'm only after something for weekend offroading.

The old girl is currently fitted with front and rear Maxi drive lockers, 4.4 V8, flared guards, 40mm bodylift, four point cage, custom bull bar with winch. Bad points: rust in the sills, bonnet, lower tailgate, rear body mounting point, likely to need new bushes all round, and other general things that you'd come to expect from a 30 year old car that has had a hard life.

What do people reckon? Normally I'd have a crack at some of this sort of work myself but a busy job, young familiy, ongoing renovations and lack of space is making it difficult.

    Cheers,
    Dave

    Smile i reckon.....

Keep the bits you want, push the rest off a cliff. Get a good 87 or 88 car, there are plenty around, and wait till it's rainy to justify working on the car (assuming you have a shed!).

    Cheers

What do you want repaired? Prepared to travel to drop the car off? I'd be inclined to buy another if the body is sad and do a changeover of your goodies, can pick up a clean rr or disco cheap

I can do the work substantially cheaper, but the turn around time is longer due to it being an offside thing I do

Pierre, I am a poor bloke without a shed, can't fit one properly on my block.

The reality is Dave that you will have to do it yourself if you want to keep the costs down. Getting someone else to do it (especially a professional mechanic) will cost you big biccies. Thats why I do my own work...takes me ages, but hey I still get out...

Glenn at Roverland in Ferntree Gully/Boronia is good, however you will pay for it. Don't know if anyone around Geelong.
