Get a hold of Torque technical tips (vol 1)from the RRC of Vic.
There's an article about it in it.

    HI there,
I got a Old chev in mine. I think you might be dissappointed with the vn5l power. I been talking to a friend who has vn5L in GQ patrol and he is dissappointed with the power.
A guy I know has LS1 chev in his and is very happy with it. Depending on how much money you have, save up once and do it properly. (rovercare knows about these conversions)
On ebay shortly I will be selling bellhousing adaptor plate + crank adaptor to suit 350 chev to zf auto

    Regards Paul

Do you really think someone upgrading from an asthmatic 3.5 would think a VN 5 ltr would be disapointing? It all depends on what your after I suppose, maybe your mate was after a fire breathing beast - I know the 5 ltr in mine would be fine - I don't need it to spin the tyres. If I made it go any faster than that, then that opens up another can of worms - the brakes. Mine are anti lock at the moment - no electronic gizmos here, just that there is no way you could get them to lock up no matter how hard you stand on the pedal... Then there is the axles... and CV's... etc.

    - but, having said all that, I will keep an eye out on ebay for those parts....

    Cheers - Gav

Tebone has a supercharged, alloy headed 383 in his re, so everything else is disappointing in power

Jas said 2.5k for the lot, he's been building it since I was 18, 5l came from his own car, loom the lot is done, will just need fuel pump and surge tank, he won't be back from port Augusta for a month or 2

I had the same stuff on eBay as tebone mentions with engine mounts but to 5l, no sale so I'll hoard till someone wants it

That certainly does explain why he thinks a 5ltr would be underpowered.

At 2.5K, I am interested in that lot, and the time frame suits me as well - I just had to shell out for SWMBO solo trip on her bike up to QLD, so I'm short of readys at the moment - let me know when he is back.

    Cheers - Gav.
