True, but then again there are also a huge amount of people that will go and purchase a new Cruiser/Rangie etc etc without even blinking, take a look on the normal LRA website, lots of the gear you can buy, but to my knowledge there are certain parts that cant be bought to keep the Storm Series special, however things can be bought like the chassis plates, selectable sway bars, body lift, flares, rear 9inch diff etc etc, you could get somewhat close to firestorm spec with lots of time and skill, but trust me there is way more to the Firestorms then meets the eye :eek:www.stormseries.com.au

Thats just stupid money and really only aimed at the Arab market.

Drop into LRA and see one for yourself, Not stupid at all for what you get, the ENTIRE Vehicle is rebuilt exactly how you want it and engineered.
So far 2 top of the line Firestorms have been built and sold, one in Victoria and one in WA, last time i checked they where not in the UAE :D, 1 firestorm currently being made and at least 1 firstorm booked for when thats done. All orders from AU.
But yes the Arabs will no doubt be enquiring.

I drive past on the way to work and usually see Andrew on the road, they are nice but not 100K nice.

Andrew doesnt drive one of the top of the line LS based Firestorms(yet), drop in and see thier latest build, im guesing you haven't seen it :D I have spent a lot of time in thier shop looking at these builds in detail and I can say with certainty they are the best on/offroad engineerable RRC's built in the world. Is a new landcruiser 100k nice + mods? Depends if you like cruisers ;)
Are the Firestorms worth 100-150k+, with out a doubt(a new Rangie is double that), I know which one I would be driving. I test drove thier first firestorm, that was it for me, however their latest builds are a huge step up from the first one, let me know when you have seen it and what you think :thumbup:

Yes a Chev powered LR (in my case it would be D2) would be a sweet thing BUT a clean Hi Comp 4.6 with some detail work oni the intake and exhaust will give you plenty of smiles. So for me if starting again it might be the $60k with a 4.6. But honestly I wouldnt do so. Starting with a very low K stock D2 V8 manual and modding it will see what $35 all up max for a vehicle with 90% of the ability of the Storm truck? It depends if that extra 10% in overall ability is worth the extra dough. Not to me. But others will (although not many I suspect).

I think bigger than the purchase costs will be the problem with insuring it...

Custom Paint and Interior are options for storm builds, when they are done its almost factory new. 4.6L Rover is sweet but if i where sticking with a rover engine it would be a Davis Performance 5L with stock ECU retuned 12k. LRA are also working on a comparably priced LS1 option to mate up to strong ZF.
With the LRA storm builds there is much more to these builds then meets the eye and to appreciate the value you really you have to see one in person (ive seen thier first and 3rd build).
To mention a few things that stood out to me: pneumatic hi/lo/diff lock and centre console control module for everything, electric fan switch button, jump start button, chassis strengthening, raised and strengthened rear spring mounts for long travel, internal mount flares, chassis air tanks, 3x fuel tanks, disco wheelbase extension and tubbing options (35s with not much lift), pneumatic button controlled sway bar options, airbag options, this doesnt even scratch the surface. 12month warranty. In sumary a lot of money for a lot of car and most importantly engineer approved.:cool:
Latest issue of 4WD Action shows all the major insurers are 4X4 friendly but Shannons would be my pick of them with assesed value and you get to send it back to LRA if you have an accident.

Thanks Blackrangie. You have sold me (if i had the cash to spend on such a toy) and I would buy it over a G Wagon M in a heartbeat.

It looks like there is a LOT going on under the skin.

I would hate to see the premium for an agreed value (there would be no other way...) policy, but I suppose if you could get one it shouldnt be too much higher than a G Wagon.

Nice cars, but when asking on Facebook how he got an srs rangie with body lift engineered, he deleted my posts.
Also asked about the twin snorkels, post deleted again! Funny, because I made the original drivers side snorkel, sent it to him, never heard from again!

Im guessing he didnt know who you where and thought you tryn to take the mickey, Its called soft dash upgrade (its an option on thier stormseries.com.au website), they replace the whole firewall with a soft dash firewall on a non soft dash Rangie(start with 2 rangies), its not cheap but its the only legal way to get a softdash firestorm. I saw this being done on thier current build.

With the drivers side snorkel best to give him a buz, its prob just a misunderstanding, he put dual snorkels on the first firestorm build but wont do it again due to the space it takes under the bonnet and other reasons, they now use a custom made bimodal airbox for extra air intake. Hope this helps.
