Hi,
my brother's taken his 1990 RR to a remote area near the Kenya/ Somalia border to help with famine relief efforts. The convoy he was travelling with were going pretty fast over a very corrugated road and he lost a shock, rear anti roll bar is also a gonner.
The car never has more than 4 people + their luggage (that will fit in the boot - no roof rack).
This is where you lot come in, what are the best shocks for a classic that will keep a comfortable ride but also perform well on corrugations?
Cheers!
Bilstein with comfort valving. They are the only ones I know of which will come back 100% after a lot of corrugations. Not THE most comfortable ride as are high pressure gas monotube but are the best compromise. This is where you lot come in, what are the best shocks for a classic that will keep a comfortable ride but also perform well on corrugations?
I have done about 20KK of worse corrugations than in Namibia with loss of about one teaspoon of oil from one shock , which I had rebuilt.
BUt be sure to try for comfort not HD spec as HD may skip on bad corrugations. Comfort are no longer sold in OZ and have to be revalved which costs a lot here.
