Just spent the weekend replacing the headlining fabric (hoodlining - depends which side of the street your on) in the Rangovery.
Just few observations I thought I'd share.
1. It's an easy job, just fiddly. It's only held in by four plugs, the mirror, the interior lamps, the sunvisors and the grab handles. All easily removed with a screw driver. Then just drop it down and pull it out through the tailgate.
2. Most auto trimmers don't want to know you. I tried to buy the foam backed material locally but it was cheaper to import it from the U.S.A. www.perfectfit.com (I still have enough left over to do another car). I chose the light neutral colour which I would call "fawn" with a touch of grey.
3. If your headlining has drooped because of water ingress (most have) you will need to repair the back-board as it probably has become "floppy". I used a fibreglass repair kit from Bunnings. I got a bit carried away and strengthened all the corners and around the rear where it is held up by the lip. I didn't even have to refit any plugs so now it is a much neater fit.
4. I also took the opportunity to replace the woefully inadequate interior lamps with some modern LED types from Bright Lights Auto Parts. Each one has about 90 LEDS and I swear I could get a suntan from them.
5. I used two large spray cans of Selleys KWIK Grip to glue the new fabric to the back board as this was the only contact adhesive I could find which was safe to use on an interior (methylene chloride free) as well as being able to stay stuck high temperatures.
6. A small paint roller was very handy to apply even pressure to the material to press it onto the back board after gluing and also helped to mould the fabric to the shape of the back board.
I'll upload some photo's here when I get them out of the phone.
Did you get some good step by step photos? If so, it would pay to do a longer write up, with photos in the 'Projects and Tuitorials' page.
